The shock absorber is mainly used to suppress the shock of spring rebound and the impact from the road surface. Although the shock absorption spring can filter the vibration of the road surface when passing through the uneven road surface, the spring itself will have reciprocating motion, and the shock absorber is used to restrain the spring jumping. If the shock absorber is too soft, the body will jump up and down. If the shock absorber is too hard, it will bring too much resistance and hinder the spring from working normally.

In the process of refitting the suspension system, the hard shock absorber should be matched with the hard spring, and the hardness of the spring is closely related to the vehicle weight, so the heavier vehicle generally adopts the harder shock absorber.

There are two kinds of shock absorber, hydraulic damper and pneumatic shock absorber. There is also a kind of variable damping shock absorber.
